Why choose Applied Mathematics?
Applied Mathematics combines mathematical theory and computational techniques to analyse and control complex technological systems.Mathematical modelling plays a fundamental role in understanding problems, followed by numerical analysis, computer simulation, and controller design to ensure systems behave as desired.

During your two-year Master’s programme, you will be embedded in your chosen research group and apply your skills in a research project or internship, for example within a company’s R&D department. Specialisations offered in the programme include Systems and Optimization, Computational Mathematics, and Statistics and Data Science.
Graduates find jobs in industry, research institutes and universities. Employers include companies such as Gasunie, Philips, Stork, Shell, Tata Steel, and KPN, as well as research institutes such as the National Aerospace Laboratory, WL/Delft Hydraulics, KNMI and TNO. Many graduates continue with PhD research before pursuing academic or industry careers.
