"Together with the world-renowned Donders Institute and various other leading research centres in Nijmegen, we train you to become an excellent researcher in AI."
Computational Cognitive Science
Are you driven to combine knowledge of AI, computer science, psychology and philosophy to dive into the theoretical understanding of cognition? Do you want to advance academic research by questioning and critiquing scientific theories on cognition? Then this AI Master's specialisation might be something for you!
With this programme, you will become familiar with formal accounts of cognition - as well as their theoretical commitments and critiques thereof. You can specialise to become an expert in critical AI or in computational cognitive (neuro)science. And by taking our practical courses, you can work on improving your skills in formal and computational modeling.
Human Centered Intelligent Systems
Are you interested in human-centered technology for a responsible future of society? In this specialisation you will study advanced AI methods and artifacts that can make a crucial difference for human well-being, such as neurotechnology, brain-computer-interfaces, speech recognition, and vision and auditory prosthetics. You can choose to focus on the societal impact of AI and learn to understand ethical considerations with respect to AI. Or dive deeper into technology design and improve human-robot and human-machine interaction, computer vision, interfaces and multimedia installations.
Machine Learning & Neural Computing
Are you driven to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and understand the inner workings of the brain? This AI Master’s specialisation enables you to explore both. You will gain the skills and expertise to understand, design, and advance modern AI systems. The programme equips you to develop technologies that align with human values and contribute positively to science, industry, and society. With the Machine Learning track, you will develop deep technical expertise in core AI technologies and explore how these methods are applied in natural sciences, healthcare and industries. Or you can focus on the development of brain-inspired technologies by choosing the Neural Computing track. You will then dive into computational neuroscience and edge computing and develop your own neural-inspired system.
