Nanoscience

Why study Nanoscience?

Nanoscience explores how we can control matter at the smallest scale to solve real-world challenges. You’ll work on topics like quantum materials, energy conversion, neuromorphic computing and biosensing, where physics, chemistry, materials science and biochemistry come together.

The programme offers a selective and research-driven environment with strong links to the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, a global leader in nanoscience. You’ll gain hands-on lab experience, collaborate closely with top researchers and develop the expertise to work at the forefront of this interdisciplinary field.

Nearly all graduates continue with a PhD, either in Groningen or abroad. Others pursue careers in high-tech companies such as ASML, AkzoNobel or QDI Systems, or continue in academic research worldwide.
